Top Sports Recruits Text Crazy

Top football and basketball recruits are being courted by universities through text messages.
College coaches say that texting has become a rampant part of the recruiting business. High school athletes tend to respond better to text messages than phone voice messages. Moreover, the NCAA does not limit the amount of text messages that can be sent to athletes during dead periods when personal phone calls are not permitted under NCAA rules.
Kansas University coach Tim Jankovich said: “Most coaches I know use it a great deal. The thing is, the kids in high school love to text. The check them like crazy.”
Senior prospects would clearly like to read a text message over getting phone calls from top college coaches. At least for now. No doubt, the NCAA will soon be looking at this technology and perhaps including it in its rules in the future.
But, for now, if you are a top high school athlete, you’d better upgrade your text plan.
