American Idol Sets Texting Record
Cingular Wireless reported that American Idol generated a whopping 64.5 million text message votes. This breaks last year’s previous record of 41.5 million text message votes.
This year’s total was buoyed by additional mobile data content offerings such as Idol Tones that were available just 24 hours after the show. Moreover, fans were also lured by the Idol Fan Club through trivia games and news updates and text chats.
