Mobile Data Content Adoption Rates

A recent study by Jupiter confirms the adoption rates of mobile data content to cell phones in the USA. Mobile content sales are naturally highest in the youngest age categories. 20% of online adults and 47% of teens bought some form of mobile data content such as ringtones or cell phone text message content such as cell phone sports scores in 2005. According to the study, mobile content revenues were more than $2 billion in the United States in 2005.
Ringtone Sales:
Adults = 13%
18-24’s = 24%
25-34’s = 24%
Teens = 27%
Applications (such as sports scores or weather sent to a cell phone)
Adults = 3%
18-24’s = 5%
25-34’s = 7%
Teens = 3%
Mobile game sales were highest among the 18-24 age group where 17% had made a purchase. Ringback tones and graphics were highest among adults 25-34 where 7% had purchased. Four percent of teens had purchased a video clip.
