Carriers Taking Lion’s Share of Premium SMS

Industry insiders at the recent Mobile Content World fear that the growth of the Premium SMS industry in the United States is being hampered by the carriers taking too much share of the revenue, according to an article in Cellular News. Mobile operators currently take 40-50% of the cost of the premium SMS, thus leaving only half of the revenue to be split by the media partner, short code aggregator, and value added reseller.
