Va Tech Spurs Articles About Text Messaging

The tragedy at Virginia Tech has spurred numerous articles about how using text messaging for emergencies might have helped to avert or limit the catastrophe. Articles have appeared in Wireless Week, PennLive, Fox News, CBS News, George Washington University’s Daily Colonial, and KLTV in Tyler, Texas. Yet another article appeared in the Wall Street Journal issue of April 18, 2007.
Larry Magid, technical analyst for CBS Radio News offers his readers to also listen to a podcast interview regarding text messaging notifications during emergencies.
If today’s internet stories are any indication, there is no doubt that there is increased interest in the business of supplying emergency text message alerts on college campuses after the Virginia Tech incident.
