Canadians to Get Charged for Incoming Text Messages
Canadians are up in arms today by the announcement that Bell and Telus are going to begin charging for inbound text messages. It’s nothing new to Americans as we’ve been charged from the get-go. But, we always think our friends to the north are a little more civilized and savvy than we are.
Carriers so often don’t see the forest from the trees. Yeah, they’ll make a little from the inbound texts to users that don’t have a bucket plan. But, they’ll increase their customer service calls in explaining why. Moreover, it’s these kinds of actions that cause advertisers to be more reluctant to run a text message advertising campaign. That’s where the real money is Bell and Telus.
