Mobile Advertising Report

The total number of cell phones in use in the USA as of today is 268,461,189. This is the estimate from the CTIA.

Text messaging is the dominant data service in use in the USA.  According to the Mobile Advertising Report from Limbo, over 160 million consumers used text messaging in the third quarter of 2008.

The mobile internet is used by 29% of those who have a cell phone.  This translates to 78 million people in the United States who actively use the mobile internet.

Mobile advertising is the biggest buzz word in the industry today and the report shows that 38% of mobile phone users have remembered seeing some advertising on the mobile phone.  SMS text message advertising is the overwhelming leader in recalled ads with over 60 million of the 104 million recalling advertising via SMS.
