Watching TV on the Mobile Phone
The average American now watches 141 minutes of TV per month on his or her cell phone, the internet, or
according to a study by Nielsen (2nd quarter, 2009).
With Americans watching TV on other devices other than the traditional television, you would think that overall viewership on traditional television sets was down. This, however, was not the case. Time spent watching TV per month increased by 2 hours and 2 minutes compared to second quarter, 2008. I would think that this is in part due to people staying home more in a down economy.
A lot of Americans are also multi-tasking. 57% are on the internet at least once per month while also watching television. I know I am.
