more and more.  There appears to be a maturity divide between the technology of the cell phone and the ability to identify the ramifications of sexting.  Hopefully, this is something that is being covered in homes with parents and at schools.

A new national poll from the C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital in Ann Arbor shows that 27% of kids ages 9-12 and 75% of teens ages 13-17 have their own cell phone. Of them, 87% are texting.

With the new technology comes another concern for parents: sexting, or the sharing of sexually explicit messages, photos and videos via cell phones.

The 2009 Pew Research Center’s Internet & America Life Project found that 4% of 12- to 17-year-olds have sent a nude or nearly nude image of themselves by cell phone, while 15% have received such a picture. Other polls and studies have placed those numbers even higher.
