In 2009, Brits sent 96.8 billion text messages and over 600 million picture messages. That comes out to an average of 265 million text messages per day in the UK.
Christmas Day was the biggest day of the year for picture messages with 4.5 million being sent. Christmas also peaked for text messages with over 441 million sent on the holiday–a 31% increase over the previous year.
Total text messages in the UK were 96.8 billion in 2009, up from 78.9 billion in 2008, and 56.9 billion in 2007.
